Da Fiore

Location-S.Polo-Calle Scaleter.2002-3025 Venezia -Italia

Cuisine-Italian

This is the last review  of our trip in Italy and the best restaurant that we visited on our recent trip , Venice in particular.Who best to ask on where to eat than the Insatiable Critic ,herself , Gael Greene, and I visit her choice without question. We take the Water Taxi and with much twisting and turning and walking across other boats we see the lamp of Da Fiore, shown, ,and we are hungry.

We enter and are greeted by the owner ,Maurizio and led to a prime table .We cannot wait to get started so we order a Bottle of Rose ,Bardolina  Chiaretto, perfect for this hot night and lot less expensive than the 2001 Masetto at 2200  Euros We are next served an Amuse and know we are in for a great meal, Strawberry Gazpacho with slice of  Octopus ,shown and a wow, taste. The choices are tough for starters here too many,we choose roasted Oysters to start as we choose our starters:)We order our starters as the delicious tasty  ,juicy , Oysters are served ,shown, and finish very quickly.

Our starters now arrive, Foodiechic has homemade  Ravioli  stuffed with cheese, and enhanced by fresh mint and artichoke as shown. I am served the dish that Gael raved about,Tuna Carpaccio ,sliced like Sashimi ,and fresh sweet Prawn, this dish is shown and is a Hall of Fame Gagit starter. Thank you Gael, the Tuna was magical mouthfuls and taste.

We are now served our mains,Foodiechic has Seabass ,served with Fig and Mint ,a Da Fiore favorite and made for her with these ingredients rather the Red Mullet on the menu. The Seabass is shown as stacked for  eye candy eating.I order a old  restaurant favorite according to Maurizio , Tagliatelli Gratin with Shrimp,as shown, and a Hall of Fame taste delight. We finish every bite and are served an intermezzo of Prosecco sorbet,as shown, for palate cleansing.

We are now served our desserts, I was so tempted to order the Lemon Sorbeto  with dusted Licorice, that Gael suggested, but I had to try  the Saboyan Semifreddo with Lemon Sauce in Chocolate Cup,just look at this and you know it was fabulous. Foodiechic  ordered a Fig Tart, with Mint of course. We then have our Macchiatos  and are served sugary fresh fruit as shown,to end the meal, and then Marizio serves us some Prosecco as we wait for our taxi, and now we are finished.

Let the Truth be Told, this was the meal and restaurant that I envisioned when Gael recommended it. There is no doubt that we enjoyed this 5 star restaurant in a 5 star way, atmosphere, maybe  so except for the dog sitting next to me,shown too:), food, and service.Thank you Gael.
