Tappo Trattoria

Location- Rua da Consolacao ,2967. Sao Paulo, Brazil

Cuisine-Italian

Gagit is back in Sao Paulo after three weeks  away and is looking for a new restaurant to try. I tweet Alexandra Forbes of course and she suggests one of her  favorite Italian Restaurants Tappo Trattoria. I call and hear fully booked in the small cozy restaurant so I know it is the place to eat tonight. I call back and tell Daniela, the hostess  that I cannot leave Sao Paulo if I do not eat here ,she says she  has one table left for tommorow night for Gagit and I say  thank you see you tommorow.

We get to the restaurant and are greeted by Daniela, shown smiling of course, and are seated in one of the special smoking tables outside on this beautiful night.I am joined tonight by Swiss royalty,Alex Lacoste, Xavier Boss ,and Fernando of Casa Sanchez fame as we start the night , of course, with the first of many Caiperoskas ,shown.

We order our starters and they are all shown as well as the mains and our special liquid  dessert. The starters are served, I choose a Confit of Chicken Livers and Gizzards , very healthly of course:)but cooked perfectly. Fernando gets the Beef Carpaccio and Alex , just a salad of fresh Brazilian vegetables with Pargmagano and Garlic bread and Xavier passes until the mains  arrive.

Fernando orders the famed Lasagna and after taking a bite of the fresh Pasta with Bolognese sauce a la Minute  it’s reputation is earned.Alex receives the Skate in a a rich brothy sauce of clams and seafood delights. He had never heard of Skate before but was very pleased and satisfied with the dish.I order the Shortrib that Daniela suggests and the meat is cooked so perfectly that it is a true Hall of Fame dish. The Saffron Rissoto with the Shortrib  is the perfect side for this meat, rich and flavorful. I guess I forgot Xavier’s dish to busy eating my own.

After eating all that healthy food , I needed a cool refreshing dessert to cleanse my palate and Daniela delivers again. In all its splendor is a glass  of Lime Ice Cream, Prosecco and Vodka combined to a creamy froth and an unbelievable taste.

Let the Truth be Told, Sao Paulo has so many hidden gem restaurants of every ethnic taste , the question is how to find them, the answer , Alexandra Forbes and  Brazil for Insiders  and Boa Vida of course. I cannot wait to get back now she has suggested ICI Bistro for my next trip , a French Restaurant owned by  Chef Paulo  Barrosa de Barros ,the same owner of Tappo and one that Daniela  also tells me is a must on my next visit. After eating at Tappo, I cannot wait to return and eat this Chefs’s creations of French for I know it will be as good or better  as its Italian sister.
