Cuisine-Korean Noodlehouse
Gagit and Foodiechic are leaving Houston but have time for one last meal. We are in the neighberhood of Korean Town and need a local fix, but which of the many restaurants to choose ? I drive by four or five but see the most cars in front of the most local of all,as shown above, a local house. We park the car walk in and are led to a room with tables for eating only, looks like the old dining room. Our server Kim,what else,as shown, gets us our drinks, water and diet coke as we study the menu.
We start with the steam dumplings with meat and JapaneseĀ pickles on the the side. As the picture shows, the portionĀ is a dozen dumplings light and tasty for only 6 bucks, wow what a find. Before the mains arrive, Kim brings over a attractive bowl of Kimchee ,as shown above,to enhance the meal and after the first bite it is Kimchee perfection of taste and flavor.
The mains now arrive as shown above both for about $8 each . Foodie gets the Beef with noodles and dumplings, and chocked full of veggies. After the first spoonful she is ready for a trip to Korea for more of the same. I have my favorite Korean local dish,Kimchee fried rice ,served with veggies and an egg on top ,as shown. This dish along with the Kimchee on the side and a miso soup as shown, are entrants to the Gagit food Hall of Fame.
Let the Truth be Told, there are local restaurants for all varieties of food but when you get a chance to go to the home of the chef ,Gagit.s rule is to take it.. Our experience at the Korean Noodelhouse in Houston not only reinforces this rule but substantiates it.
