A Borcht Feast

Gagit and wife , Foodiechic are joined for dinner at home by our friends, Russian girl and her husband the Boy from Brooklyn for a promised Borcht Feast. They arrrive at the Gagit’s with all the ingredients for the feast and Foodie and Girl get down to work cooking for there hard working men, like all good wives in Russia are expected to do.
Three hours later dinner is ready and the Feast begins, the first course, blini with Beluga Cavier and sour cream, shown above. The Beluga is disguised orange since it is illegal in this country, so please do not report us to the KGB.The Blinis were great and we are on to the centerpiece dish of the night, Cabbage and Beet Borcht, with a plethora of wonderful ingredients along with the meat and of course a dollop of sour cream .
After the Borcht,Beet Salad , Grilled Vegetables,and Chicken and Beef Perogies all shown above. Dessert of Fruit and Ice Cream with Almond Macaroons and we are finally through. We need to finish quickly and turn the lights off before Putin sends in the troops because he was not invited, this is truly a punishable crime.
Let the Truth be Told, the Gagit’s had always wanted to go to Russia but why take the flight when all we have to do is call Russiangirl to bring on the Borcht, and the Gagit’s can be almost there and without a passport. Thank you Russian Girl and Brooklyn Boy this was a nite we truly enjoyed and appreciated.
