After hearing the final song of Foodiechic,s cousin Harold,s Secret Life , the throng of Oklahomo family and friends walked over to Bar Q to celebrate and salute the star himself, Harold. This restaurant is a casual version of Anita Loo,s Annisa but the style of pan Asian remains the same.
We toast Harold with Dom Perignon 1999 Champagne and start to peruse the interesting menu . We decide to order a bunch of starters and mains to satisfy our taste buds at the late hour.I start with Kumumoto Oysters and the Spit Roasted Berkshire Pork Belly, kimchee, takuan, and steamed buns. The oysters were fresh and perfect as expected. The Pork Belly ,shown above, was as good a combination of Pork, kimchee , pickles, and steamed buns was so good I wish Michael,s Genuine would serve this combination regularly.I ordered Sticky Rice with sausage for a side, shown above also, and this was a perfect side for the Belly. The rest of the dishes ordered at our table , looked attractive but did have the wow factor of the except for one, fresh Lobster with rice noodles spring rolls, shown above. The Lobster was perfect the noodles kind of limp.
The other dishes shown were the grilled Eggplant with sweet miso glaze, looked great but was not very tasty. The stuffed Shortribs with lemongrass bbq, peanut, and thai basil looked nice but had little Asian flavor. The same lack of flavor also was missing on the Tea Smoked Duck.
We pass on dessert but some of the group had the Warm Carrot Cake with macadenia nuts, shown above, was very nice as was the Warm Walnut Soup with malted rice crispies and perfect with the espresso .
Let the Truth be Told, the restaurant was close to the theater and that made it nice at a late hour. The food was close enough to good to make it an enjoyable eating experience. As a whole, good in this case was good, and was good for this night.
