Bubble Q 2010

Posted on | March 2, 2010 | 3 Comments

This is Foodiechics and my 8th Bubble Q,and we have enjoyed them all. this year we were joined again by Jenn of Chez Jenn fame and Tennischic,of dancing on the table fame.In this review I will only cover the top highlights for me since they are why I come to Bubble Q.The standard bearer of BBQ  was back again, and Chris Lilly ,shown above ,and then his dish ,Pulled Pork with Spicy Crispy Cole Slaw. Chris has no competitors in the real BBQ category as far as my BBQ tastes are concerned. I do enjoy the Neeley’s  but  only as a second choice.I did also enjoy ,Andrew Perry Long of Daisey May’s of New York with Caja China Pulled Pork with New Mexico Chile and Shrimp Cilantro Sliders.again shown above.

A real class guy this year was Aaron Sanchez, who I talked cordially about the many nights of great Mexican food at the restaurant of his mother Zarella, whose smile he surely shows..I have heard about Susan Spicer, from New Orleans, who rocked me with her Grilled Oysters ,Savory Artichoke Bread Pudding and Lemon Garlic Butter, shown above.Since, I am  in the New Orleans  area, I go over to John Besh who welcomes me and serves me his dish,Cane Laquered Cochon de Lait Po Poboys, more like a Banh Mi, but outstanding taste ,and presentation. This is  it the winner of the Third Annual Gagit Award ,and when I told John he truly was honored, see pic above.

Although, I did not taste all the dishes I was impressed by the presentations of Michelle Bernstein , Kris Wessel, and Tim Love.quick bites here were worth the wait. I did though stop by to say hello and a fist bump  to Steve Martarano, above, whose Meatball Sandwich with his great Sauce  was so good I downed so fast that I did not get a  picture.I then needed a glass of Champagne to wash down the Meatball ,this might have been my best decision of the night. This glass of Moet tasted so good, look at picture above and you can see why, wow this girl can pour.

We now need dessert and it usually is not that interesting to me,until tonight. Sweet Dessert did have a great presentation as shown and Foodichic had a few of these and another few.My highlight dessert though was in a class by itself, Ice Cream and Sorbet by eCreamery ,wow. The ice cream flavor,Emeril’s  Drunken Monkey, shown, but no description can come close to describe  this great  flavor and taste. The Perrier-Jouet Champagne Sorbetto was not to my liking as I would rather have my champagne served by the Swinging Girl ,:).As I leave the eCreamery booth, I toast to this event with Michelle and look foward to my 9th Event next year.

Let the Truth be Told ,the BubbleQ is an expensive event. However, Foodiechic and I not only enjoy the company of our friends there, but the opportunity to taste some of the best food in its category in the U.S.A. Chris Lilly  and his BBQ is worth the price alone and with John Besh cooking up a special dish this night along with over 20 others what a treat. Also ,to get to chat with these great chefs is and added bonus. And , for this event we had a chance  to meet some of our new Foodie friends, Lesley,Heidi, Hedy ,Maureen, and some of our already made friends, Jackie,Ingrid, and Jim. Add all these activities up,and Foodiechic and I consider this Event, priceless
