Location-712 Atlantic Shores Blvd, Hallendale, Fl.
Cuisine-San Salvadorian and Coal Fired Pizza
Gagit and Foodiechic travel close by to this San Salvadorian restaurant on the advise of our driver Gorman, lol.,not really knowing what to expect. We pull up to the restaurant in the San Salvadorian section of Hallendale , and our greeted by a Wood Fired Pizza sign ,what country are we in here.?We enter a nicely decorated restaurant, for Hallendale, and are graciously led to a table in the at least half full restaurant, not bad for Wednesday. We are given our menues by our waiter Phillipe ,shown above, and as we order cold Dos Equis, I ask what Salvadorian food is all about. He tells me all his favorites and we say let’s do it as we are not here for the pizza.
We start out the meal with Mussels Enchilados , fresh Ecuadorian Mussels in red sauce with onions and peppers, shown above huge portionĀ $8.00 . The mussels were kind of tough for us but the sauce was terrific.Next, Phillipe brings out Corn Tamales served with sour cream. also shown. The $4.00 dish was a real winner and a automatic entrant into the Gagit Hall of Food Fame. The Tamale was so tasty and with the sweetness of the sour cream what a treat.
The main course now arrives whicj Foodie and I share, Chuleta de Puerco, shown above, and served breaded with smothered onions with two sides, sweet plantains and veggies in our case. The two chops were good size , although thin, but extremely flavorful. It is hard to believe that there is a resuarant that can serve a dish like this for $7.00 yes $7.00 but El Tamaraindo does. We endĀ the night with Cafe con Leche and a Cubano cafe.
Let the Truth be Told, there are few restaurants that Gagit finds meets the expectation of what he was told about it, in this case Gorman. This is a restaurant that does not need a critics review to make it popular or successful. All it take is good food at a good price and service and atmosohere to match. El Tamaraindo delivers in all these categories, especially with the $30.00 check,
