Cuisine-Indian

Gagit and Foodiechic need a Indian fix and have been looking foward to visit the new Heelsha location , after avoiding the old location off Biscayne. The first impression of the new place leads us to question whether to enter or not,no air conditioning except an open door held open by a babychair with a pitcher of water  holding it in place, see picture. Since it was a moderate night, we do enter and are seated under a fan to be more comfortable. We are handed  menus by our waitress Heelsha, must be the owners daughter, and order a Kingfisher beer to get in the mood as we are served some pampidums and spices,as shown, to get us started.

We order some meat Samosas as shown with Raita to start and find the Samosa dough to thick to enjoy the peas and lamb inside. We also order some Naan as shown as a starter and this is acceptable especially with the cool tasting Raita.

The mains that we order come out in short order since the restaurant is basically empty on Saturday. Foodiechic orders curry Goat bone in,as shown, and it should have been called goat, meat out , since the bones out numbered  the meat and the sauce although not ordered hot was almost missing the curry flavor. I order the Chicken Tikka Masala, as shown with a side of pickles ,also shown. The chicken was dry even in its sauce and almost tasteless and without the Raita and pickles would have been not worth eating. At this moment, the chef, also named Heelsha, comes by and asks us about the food and as I tell her except  for the food it is good, and she  smiles and thanks me.

Let the Truth be Told,I had been looking foward to this reastaurant sinve they moved, now I wished they had not. This restaurant and food is one that I will not only ever go back to but ever want Indian food in South Forida again. I look foward to Tayab’s in London even more and of course another visit to Casa Daswani.
