Gagit is in St. Martin for his quarterly visit and tonight I will be trying a new restaurant experience. I was watching one of my favorite TV shows the other night,Cook’s Tour with my hero Tony Bourdain ,visiting local St. Martin and one restaurant of the three on the show intrigued me the most Poulet D’Orleans, and tonight I am there.
I pull up to the house on the top of the hill in the French Quarter, the sign in front of the house as shown above ,marks the spot. I walk up the steps and join a few other table of diners on the porch, yes this is the dining room for this restaurant. The Chef Owner Tony’s daughter is my charming hostess and server for the night, along with her two daughters.I order a cold Presidente as I peruse the short but enticing menu of creole favorites, fish, meat, and of course chicken. I order for my starter, Boudin Lambi, French Sausage of Conch with Creole sauce and toasted garlic bread.see pic, and when it was served it tasted even better than the picture.
I struggled with my main course choice, glorious Ribs, the Fish of the day, Mahi-Mahi or the speciality of the house Chicken for $12.95 for a quarter chicken with vegetables and sides, and also three sauce choices, Peanut, BBQ, or Creole. Since this is my first visit here. I order the namesake dish ,the Chicken with Creole sauce. The Chicken arrives as shown above with another Presidente, and it is a picture itself almost to good to bite into. The Chicken on the dish surrounded by fresh vegetables: carrots, sweet potatoes, corn, stringbeans ,and celery, all from the property along with the chicken. In addition, I also am served sides of red beans, sauteed potatoes, and rice as also shown above. I dig in and cherish each bite of flavor, freshness, and of course Tony’s pride. I finish all the sides, and the plate is empty also. I would like to sample the Ribs for dessert but will save that for my next visit.I walk into the kitchen and thank Tony for this incredible meal and take his picture ,above, which joins Chefs, Thomas Keller and Ferran Adria in my photo library
Let the Truth Be Told, Tony Bourdain ended the meal with this quote,”If you don’t try this place, you are to dumb to live”, this sums the meal and restaurant up, in no uncertain words or terms.

Gagit,
I was one of the diners at Poulet D’Orleans and had the honor of meeting and having a brief and enjoyable conversation with you. You presented me one of your business cards. I must say, the food, service, company and price was excellent. When we return to St. Maarten next year, we will be going back to Poulet D’Orleans. The problem is, there are so many great places to eat on this beautiful island.
