Gagit gets his daily email from Thrillist and on the cover today is a picture and a write up of Ribs-2-Go,forget about Bulldog this is not Ribs by an Aventura native but a 2nd Avenue native. Mark, the preacher cook, as shown, is only at his corner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so today is my lucky day. I pull up to the authentic original BBQ, see picture, and there is a 55 minute wait but I am here but I am not turning back.
I finally get my turn and have already ordered some fresh Conch Salad from George and his son and their cooler.. It is fresh from his cooler but no challenge to Goldies.I order the Ribs from Mark the Cook,see above, my choices are a whole slab for $15.00 , Rib Tip slab for $10.00 ,and less than a slab for $5.00. I go all the way since I waited so long ,three slabs, with the three choice of sauces on the side along with three slices of bread,lol.
I get home Foodiechic opens a can of beans and warms them while we eat the fresh Conch salad with a good bite. The Beans and Ribs are warm and ready to eat. The sauces in front of us are a honey mustard flavor, a tomato based BBQ, and a hot version of the latter, the one I enjoyed. The ribs as shown above, are marinated in beer with seven secret family spices with the membranes removed for better flavor penetration,and they are not only meaty but extremely flavorful . This is what BBQ is all about not the imitation of a Top Chef participant, not a real qualification for authentic Barbeque.
Let the Truth be Told,the BBQ is authentic and good as one can get for the equipment Mark has and for this alone his Ribs can be considered better than the imitation BBQ of the Top Chef in Aventura.However, after eating the award winning BBQ Ribs of Bob Lilly and the Big Bob Gibson BBQ of Decatur Alabama, at the Bubble Q ,there is no Ribs in this area to challenge the fall off the bone taste explosion of these Ribs, Of course, if Lilly had to use the Preachers equipment I do not think he can do better than him.
