  • Location-401 East Las Olas Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale,33301
  • Cuisine-Steakhouse and Meat Market

The Gagit’s and friends visit this new, hot,Steakhouse on Las Olas.On the way into the restaurant, we noticed that there were many pretty ladies ,especially at the bar and well dressed singles and couples at the tables. We are seated on time and as we are seated our waiter James comes over to offer us drinks. He really meant we could buy drinks , lol.We gave him our orders, Gagit his usually Grey Goose on the rocks, onions this time.James brings over the drinks and tries to force us to order before the first swallow, not with Gagit buddy, I tell him,and no onions either good start James.

We finish our drink, and now call over James for our orders. James is pushing the ripoff table appetizer and a fish called Opah from Hawaii, like Swordfish he says. The question is did he ever taste the fish before trying to sell it?

We order our drinks and the Race Driver and I keep on turning our necks to observe the eye candy that keeps on walking back and forth from the bar to the restroom ,the food might not be that important tonight. Our starters arrive, and lets start eating. The Race Driver has Abita Beer Barbeque Shrimp, with French Toast see picture above, the dish looked like something in the frozen food freezer of Publix, for $4.00 rather than $11.00.Foodchic orders mussels that were almost non exitant in there shell instead of plumb and juicy as expected. I order a Beet Carpaccio with Arugula, Blue Cheese, Pecans, and sherry Vinaigrette, $11.00 sounds fantastic. However, in reality, six thin slices of Beets buried by Arugula, it should have been called Arugula Carpaccio. The good news the women keep passing by to keep our minds off the food.

Our mains arrive,I ordered the Veal Chop, unaware it would be buried in a bordelaise sauce and mushrooms with a poor imitation of polenta, only $34.00.see picture,I send the chop back to get it without the sauce and when it arrives I find out why so much sauce, it is the fattiest veal chop ever served for that price, but luckily the women are still walking by to take my mind off the food.Foodiechic ordered the bone in Filet but James decides to bring the long bone Wygu Rib Eye for $65.00 instead of the $34.00 Filet, nice try buddy but she is a Gagit. The filet comes in two seconds , must be the back up plan, again buried in sauce to kill the taste of the Allen Brothers Beef, that should stand alone and I am sure that was what the Allen Brothers intended. Now, the Opah Fish for the Race Driver and see above it is as far from Swordfish as Lobster, try it first James before trying to make the sale. Luckily, the T and A’s keep on comming.

We now order a dessert of White Chocolate Brioche Bread Pudding with bourbon anglaise and vanilla ice cream, it comes right away and it is the highlight of the dinner along with the bevy of eyecandy, but not worth the $400.00 bill.

Let the Truth be Told, if a restaurant is not confident of the quality of their ingredients or the ability of the Chef, bury it in sauce and turn the restaurant into a meat market instead of a Steakhouse. In that regard, Riley has done this to perfection, see picture above,. However, if you want to eat a veal chop go to Cafe Martarano, if you want to eat steak go to New York Prime,if you want swordfish go to Oceanaire, and if you want to just shop , come to Riley McDermott’s

They call Riley Mcdermott’s a restaurant, well that’s a joke from the day old bread to the overcooked fish and meat if I was starving Ethiopian I would gladly before die I would eat here again. Rude waiters, self-centered owners makes Mcdermott’s a Dump to avoid.

Your better off at Mickey D’S
