A special night for the Gagit’s with there legal foodie friends, and Table 8 is the choice after Gagit awarded the Chef , Govind Armstrong , his Gagit Award for Bubble Q 2008.We get there early and while we sit at the bar we order Mojitis which were dissapointing for only $ 14.00 each.We are now seated at a great table near the bar still with outside feeling but not to windy.I do notice it is 8:30pm on Saturday night and the restaurant is fairly empty , is the shine wearing off here? I am sure Prime 112 is full tonight. The server unfortunately even ordering drinks seems lost, no smile, no personality, and more importantly it seems no interest. We just have glasses of wine from the overpriced list, but this is South Beach.

The server takes our order adding nothing in helping our selection,we order two starters for the table and mains for everyone. The starters arrive in short order since the restaurant was not busy and even though they were both good, the hand cut pasta lamb shank and a sandwhich with barbecue meat however the portions were equal to those at the Bubble Q,Govind this is not Beverly Hills we eat here ,not just show up to be seen.

The mains now arrive and Foodiechic and Al have the Skirt Steak,Avocado Gremelata, and crispy Plantains. A nice dish as shown above but not worth a trip to South Beach and certainly not worth $32.00 .The head counsel has the American Kurobuta Pork , cheese grits, turnips ,and collard greens. This was a nice dish as shown but as co-counsel, I would still object to the size of portion. For my main, I choose an appetizer of Sweetbreads since many of the mains I was looking foward to were not on the menu , the portion of the sweetbreads were even smaller than our first starters , this was truly a portion of injustice.

We of course still had room for dessert but even ordering two to share we were quite sure the portions would be not worth the $9.00 and were we right on.As the pictures clearly show , Govind should be convicted of robbery, the chocolate mousseĀ  cake and the peanut brownie gave us a all a taste but not enough to enjoy.

Let the Truth be Told , we did enjoy the company and hospitality of our dear friends even if one of them is a lawyer, lol. The restaurant itself was a testimonial to a chef with talent who let his reputation dictate an attitude of contempt for the customer, even if it is South Beach.

I was really expecting something better. I enjoyed them at the Bubble Q. Too bad this is just another example of a chef who became full of themselves. I wish I had read this review before I went, it would have saved the expense and the hassel with parking
